The word "career" has long gone beyond its traditional meaning – moving up from lower position to higher position, from job to job. Today by "career" we mean the diversity of our professional lives and diversity of ourselves. Career as continuous development, as a path, as a goal, as one's personal and professional growth in a variety of ways.

The Career Centre's motto "Become who you are" emphasizes the fact that we can shape our lives and ourselves, discovering and harnessing our hidden talents, abilities, and enjoying the fruits and results of our work. This motto is closely related to the mission of the Career Centre – to support and promote the professional growth, successful integration and competitiveness of students and graduates in the labour market.

The UL Career Centre welcomes students and graduates of the UL, as well as students and employers. Career Centre professionals provide support to pupils, students and graduates on a variety of issues related to working life and career development. Students and graduates at the Career Centre can look for different types of job and internship vacancies, create and improve CV and cover letter, identify their strengths and experiences at various interesting seminars, and turn to our consultants for other growth-related crossroads when planning your work life or preparing for job interviews. We consult students on the types of education, study programmes and help them find finding the most appropriate study course and profession after completing their secondary education.

We help employers get to know and build meaningful contacts with students who have started or are planning to start their careers.

The mission of the Career Centre is to support and promote the growth of existing students and employment of graduates of the University of Latvia through a variety of career guidance systems – high quality counseling, providing information about job market, career education and employer communication.

Our values are professionalism, cooperation and flexibility.
